Church-affiliated non-profit organizations that sponsor retirement plans may be subject to ERISA in the future. Three court cases are currently challenging the use of the “church plan exemption” by non-profit hospitals affiliated with churches. While we do not believe these rulings require immediate action, we want to keep you informed of trending legislation that may affect you in the future.
