QDROs and Valuations
If you are going through a divorce, our legal department can assist you with the preparation of a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO). This is a special document that is required to fairly divide all (or a portion) of a retirement plans benefits during a divorce for child support, alimony or other purposes. There are special requirements that the Order must meet in order to be approved by the plan administrator as a Qualified Domestic Relations Order.
Randall & Hurley can provide this service to you even if we are not involved in the administration of your retirement plan. We also provide pension valuations for employees of public pension funds, such as a PERS (Public Employees' Retirement System) program. These valuations determine what amount (if any) of the PERS account should be awarded to the alternate payee. We will determine your current and future retirement benefits and calculate the alternate payee award based on how much of the account was accrued during the marriage. We can also provide this service even if we are not directly involved in the administration of your PERS account.
